Stop Killing Us

So the Idea behind the "Stop Killing Us" article of today is inspired by the recently released single of Beyoncé- Formation- which was performed at the Super Bowl recently.
I have seen the video a couple of times, even though not up to scrutinies. But yet,I quite understand the theme being passed.
It talks about equal rights. It talks about the killings of Black Americans. It talks about superiority. It talks about people of colour. Discrimination is the major key point passed.
Here's a poem by me, following the general theme- "Stop Killing Us." Enjoy!

I sit close, with my eyes closed, to an open wind
A place without security
Wandering in my thoughts
If I would live for my potentials.

I open my eyes with tears flushing my face
Thinking there won't be tomorrow
Thinking it is my last opportunity
To inhale and exhale.

I still sit, crying
Seeking for help that may not come
Talking to the anonymous winds
Soaring for a betterment.

I go back to the stream of my thoughts
The place where I could seek refuge
The place I am sure could fly me to solutions
An upliftment

I am still helpless
The picture of me sleeping in a not-used-to mother
Without motion nor breath
Eyes subtly shut, keeps appearing

The world of the unknown appears
There windy in clamour
Joyful voices aloud
An abode of peace

But no! I refuse
I belong here, I say
Out of my thoughts
Crying harder

I shout for help
But I am different to be heard
I am a shaft in the gathering of beans
I stand out

I don't want to leave for that world
I cry for acceptance
The one which may take a long process
Nobody is here!

My heritage's done nothing
You preassumeably think my colour my heart
And so you kill me
You kill my brothers

Take me out of this river
Take us out of here
We don't belong here
We deserve a loving heart

Our hearts are not our complexion
They are not to scare you
But for unity
For joy and umpteenth care

Stop Killing Us
Stop taking our lives
Our brother's lives
No!

I am not going to cry further
I am not going to wander in thoughts anymore
Stop Killing Us
For we matter

A Wanted Life.

I wanted a life. A life of tenacity and felicity, not mediocrity. A life of justice, not injustice. A life of freedom, not in shackles. A life of gain, not pain. A fruitful life, not faulty. a life of longevity, not a cut-short.

I wanted a life. A life of self-caution and self-consciousness. A life of flashback and correction. A life of tomorrow, not yesterday. A life of "perfect match",not pick and throw. A life of a scary height. A life of simplicity. A life of progression, not retrospection. A life of pity. A life of perseverance.
I wanted a life. A well deserved life. A truthful life. A blurry but bright life. A life worth living. A life full of praises and high esteem. The esteem held like it were the first king of the World. A life that communicates. A life that hopes. A life that wants and need. A life of a hero or legend.
I wanted a life. A life of characters. A life of encouragement. A life of motion. A life of notion. A life of purpose. A silvery life. A life of blossoms and laughter. A life of fragrance. A life of luxury A life of realness. A life of originality. A life nobody would ask of. A life nobody would ask for. A life of blurry pretence. A life that matters.
I wanted a life. A life of choice. A life of entitlement. A life of grace. A life of tranquil. A life of thoughts. A life of happiness. A life of love. A life of family. A life of "you & I", not US and THEM. A life of wishes.
I wanted a life. A less- criticised life. A life of heart. A life of acceptance. A life of Mine. A life of Yours. A life of ours.
I wanted a life. I wanted that life. I wanted that one you don't want. I wanted an outstanding one. The life you don't and can't dream to have. It is mine.

UNTIL I REALISED

Dear Rainbow,

I sincerely remember when I didn't know how important you were in my life. I remember how much I denied my identification with you. I remember those days when I was taught the beautiful genre of colours, and how they work. I was told about RAINBOW, but you weren't just for me, as you carry combination of multiple, beautiful colours. I was indifferent about you.
I remember growing up. Growing up in a society without a rainbow. I remember growing up in a place where my heart was not just where it wanted. I remember you, RAINBOW, but you weren't there. You denied me because I was in denial of myself.
I remember the taunts. I remember trying to conform, without knowing, deeply ,who you are. Without knowing there's another world I should be, apart from the one I grew up knowing. You never created a security, even though you knew I belonged here, with you.
I remember those days I cried, merely hearing about people you harbour. The ones who die in terrible death of diseases. The ones who struggle with their emotions. The ones who fall in love, and cut-off because it is scripted sin. I learnt all of this, without knowing you well. You still never occurred to me existing. I merely addressed you as the colour every colour is. I did not see your difference. I preferred calm colours. I would sit in agony for a change and help, but nothing occurred. Not even a bit from you.
I remember the day I realised I belonged somewhere; somewhere worthy of me- who I am- what I have been- who I will become.
I remember when your mysterious door opened for me to come in and be embraced. But still not clear what you were.
Being inside you, and still living in another world was terrifying, but I endured. I took it as what I should face, as every strong man never gives up.
I eventually got to know you well, after a lot of scrutinies. After managing through the thicks. After learning in a hard way. You owe me, Rainbow. You do.
However, I am living happily ever after I understood you.
                                   Your Heart,
                                   Seun Idris.

valentine's edition: I will do

Hey, readers! Welcome to this special edition of my blog posts! Hope everyone is fine?
Today, I don't want to be cunning. I basically want to share with you 5 things I should prolly be doing on Valentine's Day. Come along!

1. Reading: yes, I did say reading. There's a novel I purchased from Konga, during school holidays, titled "AMERICANAH", by one of my favourite authors from Africa, namely: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Here's a pic of the front cover:

I honestly made a right choice, didn't I?

2. Red velvet piece of cake anticipation!: no, I am not deranged, yeah. My subconscious has been over red velvet cake. And I may just sit and fantasize about it. And if anyone is volunteering to buy, I'd be glad. If you are buying, please, make sure it is not Coldstone's. I may puke. LOL. I am so selective.
Here's a pic of a piece of velvet cake:
This is just the cuteness in red velvets!! OMG! Just think about licking those tender, fluffy icing on it, off your fingers! Don't blame me if I fantasize about this. It is just irresistible.

3. Managing my mum's business! I just hate to do this! Looking and addressing what should be. Acting as a bartender, at times. So pissing. I don't enjoy this!!! Stop, please!
 Bye!

Learning French Online: I began French Language class on youtube.com yesterday. It has been pretty excellent. C'est très folle et facile! LOL. What a fruitful investment!

5. Sleeping! I am a fanatic! I love to sleep. So, I'll spend part of the day sleeping. Dreamland is one better place to be.

I don't have a boyfriend nor girlfriend to take me out for leasure. So, I decided to love myself, and will be doing myself this favour. LOL.

I have given account of my plans for Valentine's Day. I hope you guys enjoy it. Merci pour votre aide. Je me soucie vraiment. I will see you guys on another episode.

My Top Ten Most Stylish Men: this week's edition!

Hey, Hostglowers! I think it's fortnight since I last posted. I have been so occupied, lately, as I just got back to college. I suppose everyone is alright. It feels good to be back!
So, today, I am letting you know my top 10 most stylish men of this week. How exciting! However, I will give the list before analysis.
NB: I am biased about this compilation. I don't want you to agree, I only wanted you to know.
 So, let's start off!

My Top 10 Most Stylish Men for The Week:
1. Idris Elba
2. Denola Grey
3. Mai Atafo
4. Yinka George
5. Ugo Mozie
6. Joseph Benjamin
7. Adebayo- Oke Lawal
8. Dimeji Alara
9. Jaden Smith
10. Kanye West.

I am starting off from the lowest in order.
Let's begin!

10. Kanye West.

I am honestly not a fan of Kanye. But, I mean, I must confess, he's stylish! I love his edgy simplicity! He goes in casual, and they just fit! His blings, though! LOL.

9. Jaden Smith.

Holy!! Who would ever think I would pick Jaden below some stylish folks? I enjoy the fact that is style his "gender neutral". He is so glam, exploring the both genders forms of dressing. Kudos, Jaden.
For those who do not know Jaden, he is an actor/ singer. He was Karate Kid-- the film Jackie Chan acted as fight trainer.

8. Dimeji Alara.

You know Genevieve Nnaji's Magazine, you know Dimeji!! Dimeji Alara was an editor at Genevieve Magazine for some year, before he decided to quit and build his career. I love Dimeji's style, although they are simple, but fiery! Thumbs up, Dimeji!

7. Adebayo- Oke Lawal.

At my number 7 is, the creative director of the fashion, art brand, Orange Culture. Adebayo's brand is a muse! You just must have in your closet! His collections tell stories! LOL! I suddenly became his brand marketer. However, Adebayo's style is simple. He keeps it classy and fresh. He makes my number 7th this week.

6. Joseph Benjamin.
Joseph is a Nigerian actor/ TV anchor. I love the fact that he keeps his style fitted, clean, and official! He made it to my compilation this week!

5. Ugo Mozie.

When a fashion stylist styles himself, what do you expect? Flawlessness upon glamour! Ugo Mozie is an international stylist from Nigeria. His styles are technical, often times.

4. Yinka- Bode George.

Yinka!!!!! You don't want to try this talent!!! Yinka George is a Nigerian model, based in Canada. He's one of Chief Bode George's son. I initially felt he was indifferent in getting in outfits, but I later realised how blunt he could be. Thumbs up, Yinka.
Yinka is also a bodybuilding instructor.

3. Mai Atafo.

You have no sense my love for this man! I just so much admire him. He's so stylish. He gives every event good detail through how he dresses! Obsession!
Mai Atafo is the creative director of MAI- Mai Atafo Inspired-- an international fashion brand.

2. Denola Grey.

Who doesn't know www.denolagrey.com? You must be kidding me!!! I just crush on Denola's style every time. He has never been a victim. My love for his creativity is so unending. Keep it up, heart!
Denola Adepetun, popularly known as Denola Grey, is the site manager of the above link. Visit for more tips and styles!

And, last,but not the least:
1. Idris Elba!

It is absolutely no form of partial! This man totally deserves it! I didn't judge from the fact that he bares my surname. I judged by its realness. Idris deserves this. Too stylish. Always slaying. Fantasy!
Idris is a British- African actor, based in Europe.

I hope you guys enjoy my coalition. My sincerity was so clear. So, it's been so great, sharing my views with everyone. Kindly do me the favour sharing.
I hope to hear from you next week! Happy new month. Happy love season. I assure you a special package next week! Ciao! Thanks for the love.
